Kid Scoop Writing Corner Schedule Kid Scoop submissions – not to exceed 100 words – may be emailed to or mailed to NIE/Daily Hampshire Gazette, PO Box 299, Northampton, MA 01061, or faxed to (413) 585-5299.   Beware of faxes – if they are too faint to be read, they cannot be used. You may access a submission form for mailing here.

2/1/17 Valentine Surprise Make up a short story about a surprise for a puppy on Valentine’s Day. Give the puppy a name and use at least 2 adjectives to describe the surprise. 2/15/17
2/8/17 Safety Tips Give three safety rules that are important to you. 2/22/17
2/15/17 Do we need pennies? Some people think we should get rid of all pennies. Do you think this is a good idea? Why or why not? 3/1/17
2/22/17 Admirable Woman Choose a woman you admire who is no longer alive. Give 3 reasons why you think she was admirable. 3/8/17
3/1/17 What if pigs could fly? Use the idea in a silly story of 100 words or fewer. 3/15/17
3/8/17 Goof Off Day March 22 is National Goof Off Day. Tell how you would like to celebrate. Be creative! 3/22/17

    How do you earn a certificate and where do they come from? Do you just have to submit something, or is there a special selection process?

      Every Wednesday, the Kid Scoop page shows a writing prompt at the bottom of the writing column. Hampshire County students in grades 1 through 6 are invited to send us responses of 100 words or fewer. During the school year, published authors receive ice cream gift certificates.
